a magnolia flower, for my dad. we have magnolia trees all over the place here, and i used to pick the flowers off the branches when i was a kid all the time and give them to him. one day during a random parent to child conversation he asked me what my favorite flower was, and i said daisies (being the kid i was - i didn’t know what else to say) and i asked him what his was, and he smiled at me and said “magnolias. magnolias are my favorite flower of all time.”
everytime i see a magnolia tree i recall that memory, all those magnolias i picked for him, and smile. i love you dad.
